Things 2009

This was the artist’s second series, and like Time, it was a reflection of his lived experiences in the contemporary world. The series is composed of day-to-day objects that the artist not only creatively forms displaying his technical abilities as a sculptor, but also gives new concept to, presenting an experience between conceptual and formal art.

The world that the artist presents in this series is a modern world that is developing with rapid space, providing us with new opportunities but at the same time trapping us in its grips, controlling our presence and defining the borders of our freedom.

Combining objects like a telephone – that represents the technology of today and is a tool that makes us constantly reachable – with an object like a juicer or a meat grinder that are used to crush natural fibers, recalls the psychological ruptures brought along by the modern world. The combination of two objects that produce contradictory emotions, expresses the contradictions present in the contemporary world with its pleasures and irritations, and its pains and rewards.
